Connemara Golf Links nestled between the scenic splendour of the 12 Bens mountain range and the rugged Atlantic Ocean is an enduring monument to its designer Eddie Hackett.

Horse Riding
Cleggan Beach Riding Centre is an approved riding school and is Connemara's most renowned beach trekking centre.

Errislannan Manor (The home of Stephanie Brooks) is on the west coast of Ireland four miles south of Clifden. It houses the Errislannan Manor Connemara pony stud and riding centre and is the home of the Connemara Branch of the Irish Pony Club.

Pony Trekking is also available on the many sandy beaches in the Cleggan area.

Explore Connemara, cutting through bog, moorland and lakes. There is dramatic mountain scenery particularly when cycling from Clifden, through Claddaghduff and Cleggan. Maps and information are now available from Hazelbrook Farmhouse. This is now a Failte Ireland West recognised Cycle Route. Luggage transfer can be arranged for cyclists.

Day Trips to the Islands
No visit to Connemara is complete without a visit to Inishbofin Island, one of the most westerly Islands off the Irish coastline. The Ferry Service is aboard the fast, comfortable ferry “The Island Discovery” which leaves Cleggan frequently.

Omey Island, a tidal island, is miles of sandy beach steeped in history, archaeology and culture. The famous Omey Beach Horse Race is an annual event held every August.

Sea Sports

Cleggan Bay is a wonderful location to enjoy many water sports, with a public slipway for launching small craft and easy access to many local, clean, sandy beaches.

The Cleggan area is a haven for deep sea diving with clear, clean waters and a number of interesting wrecks.

Fishing and Angling

Fishing and angling boats are available locally, with abundant catches of Skate, Pollock, Mackerel and Tuna.

The artist does not need to leave the house as Hazelbrook Farmhouse is immersed in the panoramic scenery of the rugged West of Ireland landscape. Local resident artist available for classes or groups of 8 or more people.
